Getting there by rail
Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) runs an efficient internal service throughout Austria (approximately 5,800 kilometers of track) and is directly connected to the European railway network.
Upper Austria is serviced by the Westbahn track, featuring a frequent intercity service from Vienna to Salzburg. In addition, Wels and Passau can be accessed by trains running from Vienna to Germany.
Upper Austrian EC stations include Linz, Schärding, Attnang-Puchheim and Wels. Linz is linked to Mühlviertel Region while Attnang-Puchheim is joined to scenic Salzkammergut Lake District and to the more mountainous Innviertel Region.
Euro City trains feature dining cars, national trains feature dining cars or board-service offering snacks and drinks. Trains traveling during the night have sleepers or couchette cars. For timetables please refer to www.oebb.at
