Downloading GPS data

Once you found a route on the route planner that you would like to download to a GPS device, you will find download options at the bottom of the page. GPS waypoints are available for download in different file formats including .trk file format for Garmin devices, .txt files which are flexible and not platform specific, .tk files for Kompass/DAV maps and Overlay files for AustriaMAP and TOP50 maps of regional land surveying offices. .trk and .txt files are offered in two formats: .trk small and .txt small which means they have a limit of 250 points per track. This is very useful for GPS devices with a limited trackpoint storage capacity.
GPS data files generally contain trackpoints and waypoints for easier navigation.
The GPS data have been compress in a zip archive to decrease the time they take to download. After download you can unzip the file(s) and use them with your software.
