Mountain Bike Center Limestone Alps National Park

The Limestone Alps National Park region is one of the most beautiful mountain biking areas in Upper Austria – since time immemorial it has been synonymous with extensive forests, clear mountain streams and lush alpine pastures. This large uninhabited area of wooded mountains contains three dozen different forest species, more than 30 different orchids, the longest intact stream system and more than 800 springs. It is also home to species of plants and animals that are threatened with extinction elsewhere.

There's a stunning network of trails to explore, filled with Upper Austria's best mountainous scenery and quaint Alpine pastures. Sprawling between Sengsen Mountains and Hintergebirge Massif, the rugged rock formations and the awesome beauty of nature are crisscrossed by a stunning network of logging trails and single track. The views and terrain are unbeatable and your legs are the limit.

Kalkalpen National Park is the widest unsettled ranged wooden area in Austria with an abundance of woodlands and the longest intact stream system with over 800 sources. It is home to three dozens of different types of forest and also accommodates a rich and enchanting variety of rare plants, such as over 30 orchid species, and animals, such as stags, chamois, golden eagles, white woodpeckers, alpine longhorn beetles, lynxes, and brown bears.
Kalkalpen National Park boasts tours on a mapped, 500-kilometer network of scenic paths, dirt roads, and trails. Try the whole area, top to bottom, east to west, bike path to goat path, beginner's joy to bone-rattling downhill.

Apart from the many legendary day trips, Kalkalpen National Park serves up a gluttonous menu of tasty opportunities for extended multi-day mountain bike tours. We're talking days-long rides through awesome wilderness landscapes, with overnight stays on quaint mountain lodges and shelters. If you want a ride with character, then step up to one of these, riding from hut to hut, crossing mountain passes, and biking from one wonderful valley to the next. After all, why go all the way to Upper Austria for something less than a memorable, heart pumping adventure, and enough time in the backcountry to enjoy it?

The numerous rustic huts, lodges, and shelters in and around Kalkalpen National Park are great places to take a rest and gather new strength over hearty delicacies.
