DISCLAIMER
PLEASE NOTE:
The mountain bike tours presented here are suggested tours that are provided free of charge and are for information purposes only. We have no intention of entering into a contract with users of this website. Using the data does not constitute entering into a contract with us.
The data may be used for private purposes only. Commercial usage of any kind is not permitted. In particular it is expressly prohibited to publish the data on commercially operated websites, sharing platforms etc., or to use the data to develop commercial products. The user does not gain any rights to the data in question by downloading it.
Our suggested tours under the headings of "Tours in Upper Austria", "Tours in Salzkammergut" and "Tours in Limestone Alps National Park" have been put together with the utmost care. Nevertheless, we accept no liability for the accuracy and completeness of the information.
Construction work or other influences (e.g. mudslides etc.) could lead to temporary or permanent changes to a route (e.g. if a bridge is swept away etc.). It is possible that a route affected in this way may no longer be passable, either in part or in full.
The use of the data, as well as use of the suggested tours and/or path network, is therefore entirely at the user's own risk and he/she assumes full responsibility. In particular the user assumes full responsibility for route selection, orientation in the terrain, adherence to traffic regulations, equipping and kitting out his/her bicycle, wearing a helmet, assessing his/her personal capability, assessing risks and maintaining an appropriate speed. We accept no liability whatsoever for damages, and especially accidents, caused as a result of using the suggested tours.
The tours take riders onto roads that contain normal levels of traffic. Please note that this increases the potential risks. These risks can be avoided by exercising appropriate caution and accurately assessing one's own capabilities. Please cycle any routes that are unfamiliar to you slowly and with extra caution. Pay attention to potential sources of danger at all times, and keep a constant eye on the traffic. Do not stray from the specified routes.
All use of private roads, especially forest roads and agricultural transport roads, can be subject to legal restrictions which must be observed and obeyed.
The Road Traffic Regulations apply to all cyclists. Every cyclist is solely responsible for adhering to these regulations, for the proper condition of his/her bicycle, and for ensuring that it is adequately equipped (lights, brakes etc.). Additionally, every cyclist has sole responsibility for maintaining a speed appropriate to the circumstances and to his/her ability, and also for maintaining an adequate distance to the person in front. We expressly advise that cyclists always ride at a speed at which they are in full control of their bike, that they wear a helmet and reflective clothing (or similar), and that they use authorised bike lights.
All tours require a very good physical constitution and condition, and riders should be extensively prepared. We expressly recommend that you only embark on these tours if you are in optimum health.
We recommend that you take out accident and liability insurance. Use a bicycle computer which displays daily distances and is calibrated to the appropriate front wheel.
Fair play rules for mountain bikers:
Mountain biking is one of the nicest outdoor recreational pursuits. Biking and mountain bike tours allow riders to experience mountains and lakes, Alpine pastures and huts in a new light. A few rules to ensure fair play in the forest help riders to enjoy mountain biking free from any conflict.
- Pedestrians have priority: we show consideration and behave in a friendly manner towards pedestrians and hikers. Upon meeting them, we sound our bell and cycle past slowly. We always avoid paths that are heavily used by walkers. Consideration for nature: we leave no rubbish.
- Ride at a speed at which you are in full control of your bike: we ride at a controlled speed, ready to brake at any time, and always maintaining control of our bikes, especially around bends, as obstacles may be encountered at any time. Potential dangers include damage to the surface of the path, stones, branches, piles of stored wood, livestock, cattle grids, barriers, tractors/forest machinery and authorised vehicles.
- "Donīt drink and drive!" The no-alcohol rule also applies to mountain biking. Show consideration at service areas (conduct with bike racks, dirty shoes or clothing). It is obligatory to administer first aid!
- Marked routes, cycling restrictions and barriers: stay on marked routes and observe any barriers, accepting that these routes are primarily used for agricultural and forestry purposes! Barriers are often unavoidable and are in your best interests. Cycling off the main route and outside of the authorised times is a punishable offence and makes us illegal bikers.
- We are guests in the forest and we should behave as guests, including in our dealings with forest and hunting personnel. Mobile phones and personal stereo systems are off-limits when mountain biking! Full attention is required at all times.
- We avoid making unnecessary noise. Out of consideration for the animals living in the area we only cycle in full daylight. In principle we always cycle with a helmet (including uphill)!
- Bring an emergency kit: we always bring a repair kit and bandages.
- Proper self-assessment: we do not over-challenge ourselves, either technically or in terms of our physical condition. Pay attention to the difficulty level of the route and be accurate when assessing your own experience and ability as a biker (brakes, bell, light)!
- Close field gates: we approach livestock at walking pace and close all field gates after passing through them. Avoid causing a flight or panic reaction in the animals. If you follow these guidelines, nothing can stand in the way of your enjoyment and your sporting challenge on the mountain and in the forest!
- Road Traffic Regulations: the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) apply to all mountain bike routes and must be adhered to. Our bike must therefore be technically sound and fully equipped to meet the Road Traffic Regulations, i.e. fitted with brakes, bell, light. We always check and maintain our mountain bikes at regular intervals.
